Are there ever moments when Kanye West is not making headlines? Rarely, and the remaining moments are often spent with cameras following his wife, Kim Kardashian West. Of course, there are also moments in between when the couple is together, which is the case in a music video for one of the songs on Yeezy’s new album, The Life of Pablo.
The song is entitled, “Wolves,” and features that couple that everybody equates to royalty. Though it is not flashbacks of the couple’s happiest moments, like their wedding or the birth of their children, North and Saint, it does feature them crying in some recognizable attire. Featuring their head turning, headline-making outfits that they wore to the Met Gala in May 2016, the only thing different than the original stunning photos this July were the couples immense tears.
Now, everybody knows that Kanye has some pretty deep music videos that have far greater meaning than just putting some images to the tune. This video actually doubles as an ad campaign for Balmain, and features gorgeous models as well as personalities, Vic Mensa and Sia. Regardless of who else is in this video, the focus is always on the stars of the hour: The Wests.
If the other music videos for the Life of Pablo album are like this one, it is safe to say that you should print off some coupons for tissues because “Wolves” is demonstrating just how intense this album really is, and the music videos must match that intensity.
Well, it looks like Kim Kardashian has had enough! The reality television star and her husband, rapper Kanye West, have been at the center of Hollywood’s latest scandal surrounding West’s recent hit song, Famous. The song includes controversial lyrics referring to the pop singer Taylor Swift as West raps, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have s*x. Why? I made that b**ch famous.” After the song’s release, Taylor Swift’s representatives immediately dubbed the lyric as “misogynistic.” expressing that Swift never approved of the lyrics. Swift went on to condemn the song at the 2016 Grammy Awards during her “Album of the Year” acceptance speech.
The Kimye camp, however, told a different side of the story. West took to twitter to explain things from his point of view, stating, “I called Taylor and had a hour-long convo with her about the line and she thought it was funny and gave her blessings.” Swift and her reps vehemently denied this claim, telling Entertainment Weekly, “Kanye did not call for approval, but to ask Taylor to release his single ‘Famous’ on her Twitter account.”
In efforts to defend her husband, Kim Kardashian released video segments of the phone conversation between West and Swift on the night of July 17, sending social media users into a frenzy. The video shows Kanye reading the controversial lyrics to Swift, and Swift referring to the lyric as a compliment. A full transcript of the conversation can be viewed here.
