Albeit cheesy, the title of this blog is very true to form when it comes to renowned producer Lawrence Bender.
There are few film producers that are as successful and versatile as Lawrence Bender. It is impossible to typecast his film production style due to his wide range of television and film projects. Lawrence Bender has delivered a series of artistic, political, comedic, romantic, and action masterpieces spanning a career over 2 decades long.
Born October 17th, 1957 in Bronx New York, Bender’s early life offered no indication of his path in the entertainment world. In fact, Bender graduated from college with a degree in civil engineering. However, Bender decided not to pursue the engineering field and took up his passion for dance. Unfortunately, an injury ended his dancing aspirations. Bender began his career in the entertainment industry as a grip on the television series Tales From The Darkside in the 80’s. By the early 90’s Bender had begun a business relationship with Quentin Tarantino which led to his production of cult classic Reservoir Dogs starring Harvey Keitel.
Bender has produced several critically acclaimed award-winning pop culture classics including, Pulp Fiction, From Dusk Till Dawn, Jackie Brown, Good Will Hunting, The Mexican, Knock Around Guys, and, my personal favorite, Dirty Dancing Havana Nights.
Yes, Dirty Dancing Havana Nights is my favorite Bender movie because I’m a sappy girl, and I LOVE the drama and romance of revolutionary Cuba, an interracial couple, music, dancing, and sex!
To be clear, Bender’s career has not been limited to just film. He also has an impressive resume of impactful documentaries like the renowned An Inconvenient Truth, made famous by former Vice President of the United States Al Gore, multiple television series, and a veritable plethora of accolades within social, political, and charitable causes. The magnitude of Lawrence Bender’s career is profoundly impressive. This guy has done it all!
