Robert Ivy serves as the Vice President and Chief Executive Officer for the American Institute of Architects. His advocacy has strengthened the AIA by communicating the value of his profession to the public. He’s acted in many positions to bring outreach and value to the community of architecture. His educational background was the beginning of a life of service and professionalism. His scope of experience was recently recognized when he received the Noel Polk Lifetime Achievement Award.
This is a first for the architect community. He is the lone architect to receive an award from them, so far. The award was granted by the nonprofit Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters. They recognize artists who’ve created designs that influence the world in a way that they deserve to be honored. Robert Ivy will be presented the award at a formal event on June 2nd, 2018.
He holds a Bachelors Degree in English and a Masters in Architecture. He studied at Sewanee: The University of the South. Robert Ivy then attended Tulane University in Louisiana. He continued to gain experience working for several architectural publications. This prepared him for his years of advocacy for the AIA as CEO.

Robert Ivy has his eyes on the future. His new efforts to instruct growing architects about their global impact will increase sustainability. He addresses many issues about each designer’s effect on climate change and public health. He’s given several interviews on the subject of architecture as well. His past is full of relevant experience that allows him to communicate and advocate for his profession in a clear way.
He’s been celebrated with many achievements and awards during his sterling career. He was given the Crain Award in 2009. This is the top recognition an individual can receive from the American Business Media. Robert Ivy was also named “Master Architect“. This title is an historic one that’s given to many famous architects by the national architecture fraternity Alpha Rho Chi. He received the McGraw-Hill Award for Excellence in Management as well. He can now add the Noel Polk Lifetime Achievement Award to this list.
Throughout his career, he’s made architecture more accessible to mainstream society. He continues to mentor students and professionals in the field of Architecture. The President of the AIA publicly congratulated him on his achievement in a press release. He commended Mr. Ivy for this incredible professional and personal recognition. Every year the Better Business Bureau (BBB) selects one business to receive the Torch Award, an award that honors ethical business practices throughout the year. The nominated companies go through intensive screening and are chosen by an independent panel of judges. The most recent Torch Award has been given to Aloha Construction of Lake Zurich, Illinois. Aloha Construction was originally nominated because of their immense contributions to the local community.
Aloha Construction takes part in many various community projects, the main being Learning Express. Through this program a big shopping spree is funded for a local family in need. This past year Aloha partnered with a local youth service to find a single mother with four daughters to receive the shopping spree. The four girls were given 60 seconds to grab as many toys as they could, and ended up going home with over $7000 of products. They have also funded tickets to Chicago Bulls game vs. the Houston Rockets for a boy who has had to have multiple surgeries due to a serious heart defect. In addition to these specific acts of kindness, Aloha construction has held fundraisers through various sports games and the Boys and Girls Club.
Not only does the company care for its community, it cares vastly for its customers and employees. To mention a few, Cathedral of St. Paul, it is the most beautiful church and is the most beautiful building in Minnesota. It was established in the 1900’s and known to be the third largest church in the U.S. It is a grand cathedral. Its structure was inspired by the French churches in Paris, landscapes French Renaissance and Classical themes and has a 186ft high auditorium in the center. Church of the Sacred Heart, it is found in the small city of Freeport. It has the most lavish interior design. Basilica of St. Mary, displays the Baroque and Beaux-Arts architecture. It was founded in the early 1900s in Minneapolis and has a fantastic interior and wonderfully detailed. The Basilica Block Party which is a musical festival is held at the church each summer raise funds for the structure and local charities. Last but not least, Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, it is found in New Ulm. It was built in 1896 and designed in the Baroque style. It has a beautifully designed clock tower at the top of its central steeple and a white well-trimmed red brick erection. Its interior has paintings.
In addition to the churches in Minnesota, the Mighty Fortress Church is one of them. The church is located in Minneapolis. Many people fail to attend church services due to the atmosphere created by many of these religious institutions. Most of the masses tend to repeat meaningless rituals week after week. However, in Mighty Fortress the atmosphere is conducive and welcoming to all. People are encouraged to come as they are. Church services should be enjoyable, and everybody is entitled to something to contribute to the body of Christ.
